Baros Maldives was the third resort to open in the Maldives (1973), and the first really luxurious. It also had the first Dive Centre to open in 1979.
Baros Maldives nowadays is a luxury boutique hotel that is part of the prestigious chain Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Located in a small island close to Male’ city set in a turquoise lagoon, the speedboat takes 25 minutes from the airport.
If you like snorkel, it has one of the best reefs near Male. Best rooms for snorkelling lovers are Baros Villas and higher numbered Water Villas 326-330.
Baros villas are secluded in palm-shaded glades by a white sandy beach or perched over-water with private sun deck. Many have their own private pool and some have also a spa bath. All have an espresso machine, a wine and mini-bar; flat-screen TV and music dock. A Villa Host is on call 24 hours.
There are 3 restaurants for fine dining, sea-food and Asian cuisine. Also a private dining can be arranged in-villa, on an isolated sandbank or on a deck over the lagoon.
It is a honeymoon and romantic resort aimed to couples. It is kind of only adults, as only children above 8 are welcome. And there are no special facilities for families. There is a charge for an extra bed for a child sharing with two adults.
