Bandos resort was the second resort to open in Maldives, in 1972. But don’t worry, a big refurbishment was done in 2004 and had several upgrades since. Today it is popular four star resort located in a private island just 10 kilometers away from Male. It means a short boat ride of less than 20 minutes to reach the resort.
Bandos Maldives features 238 rooms with balconies overlooking the garden or beach. Only 2 overwater rooms are available, very difficult to book. A water sports center and dive school are also in the resort. The hotel has multiple dining options. Free WiFi access is available.
Bandos’ rooms and villas are surrounded by nature’s beauty, some featuring high thatched roofs or wooden design.
Services include pool with bar, spa. Club, gym, aerobics, badminton, tennis courts, squash and table tennis.
Kids Club offers babysitting services along with a range of programs for the little ones.
There are 4 restaurants and 3 bars with cousines of the worls available: Koon Thai restaurant, Sea Breeze Café offers Western and international food by the sea, Chinese options are available for breakfast and Umi Yaki restaurant serves Japanese Teppanyaki food.

Highlights of Bandos Island Resort Maldives
- Bandos has some of the best diving spots in the Maldives nearby.
- The resort is very close to the airport and Malé: it means a very easy and fast transfers, but also that you will see the capital city from some part of the island. That can spoil the “tropical island” ambience.
- Check-in from 14:00, Check-out before 12:00
- All Children are welcome.
- Bandos is an old property so maybe does not have the modern design or services of the newer resorts
- Note that the restaurant operates 2 hrs only
- The food served is good and with a great variety of options.
- The sea and the house reef are very good.
- It is a resort with good value for money.
- Bandos Maldives is a good option for families.
- Bandos is not the best option for a romantic holiday or a quiet resort.
